Debate speakers: Gabriel Feltran, Maria Teresa Fedeli (Specialist in urban architecture, particularly in favela communities)

Two women and their young daughters came four hours on public transport to see it after Valdênia (from Sapopemba screening) had recommended it. This was very flattering. The debate had me, Lee, Gabriel, Matthew, and Maria Teresa Fedeli, who has worked with Architecture and Housing in favelas for 25 years. Maria discussed how the film brought up memories of times in the passed and families she has worked with in different favelas. Other topics that came up with why Lee and I, as well as other non-Brazilians are fascinated by Rio’s favelas. Part of Lee’s answer was that in many ways it is not so different from the environment he grew up in.

Some students from Cursinho Popular Martin Luther King came to film the post-screening debate. We then had to rush into the car and Marlos finished editing the Making Of (he will give me a copy) and Lee in the back finishing the Resistance film. Go to Facebook to see some of the highlights from the discussion.
